Another border .. into Victoria.

The destination today is my sister and brother-in-law's home in Horsham.

So after a beautiful sunrise over the Murray

and checking out the height of several floods- the worst one at the very top of the marker and over my head!!

..... it was hitch up, more driving and we got there.

Stopped at Pinnaroo and thought of the Coen family in their English town Pinner. The name is the only similarity. They have a unique town clock.

Pinnaroo

It was great to finally stop at my sisters. Quite a tricky backing manoeuvre and the van was in the carport next to Jenny and Kevin's van.  Impressive reversing teamwork by the blokes.

We have spent the past two days with family which has been wonderful. The weather is kind and catching up with everyone and their stories has been great.

Yesterday we went out to check out the fire damage around my brother's farm. It was the place I grew up in. Those beautiful Grampian Mountain ranges burnt. Lots of homes lost and sadly one life lost.

View across the paddocks from the farm
My brother, his wife and son spent a horrifying night protecting their home as the fire front swept in the early hours of the morning. They lost stock.

They suffered ember attack on this wall
But the rain has greened everything up so it does look better. "BlazeAid" volunteers have come in, pulled down and rebuilt fences but lots of trees have been destroyed. He has only just got his stock back as it was sent away to be agisted out until he got some pasture growing again.
