So near but so far

We woke up to fog and dampness so it was a slow start to the day. Off I went across the muddy road to the shower block... which just a couple of showers in a shed...luckily the water was piping hot. Walked down town and saw so many dead mice. They have had a huge plague (almost over now with the rain and cold arriving) so far have only seen one live one- rather Rifter spied it and raced to get it still attached to his lead.nearly ripping Greg's arm off. The main street has an avenue of Plane trees and they are all dropping their leaves for autumn. Hidden in the leaves are lots of dead mice and if you think about it too much you can actually smell them.

Reminds me of Boddington. there's lambs in that paddock |
We walked down town and stocked up at the local IGA and bought a flower on the way back at a cute little cafe. I tested the oven and made some Anzac biscuits. Greg caught up on the local news and Rifter slept.

Jobs finished now its time for the news |
In the afternoon we explored the copper triangle towns of Moonta, Kadina and Wallaroo. Its a fascinating area that was a rich copper field. Cornish miners came out and apparently South Australia has more people of Cornish ancestry that Corwell - hard to believe though. Lots of gorgeous homes and some low roofed Cornish miners homes.

Maitland is the centre of a very fertile grain growing area and all the farms appear huge. The town itself is based on Adelaide's set up with a green belt surrounding square central sets of streets, quite pretty!

Those are some good looking Anzacs
