The House that Nar Built…well- is building

Nar has a great block overlooking lake Bolac. He is going to move an old house onto the site and renovate it. Nar is a painter and a very clever renovator so it will be great to see what happens to this old girl.

It is an old soldiers settlers home. After the second world war soldiers were offered cheap loans and the opportunity to buy land (640 acres). Big pastoral properties were divided up. Funnily enough now it is reverting back and all the small farms have been gobbled up. Many of the soldiers settlers homes are empty or have been moved.  Both Greg and my parents started farming like this. My brother ( the one who had the fire is still living on my parents soldiers settlers property). Wooden homes were built and although they were basic they were built well. I remember my mum complaining that she could only paint in three colours. We lived in the garage while our house was being built.

Nar is explaining how he was sitting having a coffee when a snake crawled out from under the verandah- a tiger snake. The dog flicked him away and it was quickly killed.
At the moment he is waiting for council approval to be finalised then it will be a big project.

The plan is to move this home onto his lake side block. I am pleased this old girl lives on and I’m sure it will look great when it is finished. But there is a lot of work to do.
Rifter loved chasing the rabbits. And getting stuck in all the rubble. He’d disappear into the piles.
